Matcha Shortage Editorial

Challenge
The challenge for this project was to design an editorial spread about the growing shortage of matcha and the increasing global demand for it. The goal was to present the information in a visually engaging way while maintaining a clear hierarchy that would guide readers through the story.

Approach
As an avid matcha drinker, I felt personally drawn to this story and wanted the design to reflect the culture and process behind matcha. I used imagery, illustrations, and a green color palette inspired by matcha to support the theme of the article. The layout combines photography, pull quotes, and a simple visual diagram to help explain how matcha is made from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant and turned into the tea enjoyed around the world. This approach helps balance information and visuals while keeping the spread engaging and easy to read.
